Get out of your mind and LIVE.
Some might read this and think it’s not related to skin. And I would say firstly – so what? But then I would level-up and rationalise that it 100% does. It relates to our focus on having a toolkit for life. A toolkit for looking good, feeling good, being mentally strong and building greater confidence.
Plus, your body, mind and spirit are intertwined in ways that we need to understand in order to build the best versions of all of us.
So, with a healthy 43 years under my belt, I’ve nailed down for you some of my top ‘conviction factors’. The simple yet powerful tools that I keep in my mental arsenal for rolling through life with less stress, reduced anxiety and a curiosity that allows me to suck more out of moment and generate greater self-awareness.
As always love to hear yours too x.
The ‘How do you eat an elephant’ factor.
I’ve got my lovely Mum to thank for this one. She was always such a rockstar when I was growing up and got myself into a mental funk. Any challenge, physical, life change, overwhelming…she would say “There is only one way to tackle these things, and that is one small chunk at a time”. Momentum is a funny thing you see, take a single small step, and then another and next minute you’ll be snowballing your confident way through any challenge.
The ‘Come Home Gal’ factor.
This is your reminder to yourself that within any moment that you have a version of yourself that is wise, calm, rational and powerful. And it never goes away. Even though it may feel like it has. It just sometimes gets a little buried under your thoughts, feelings and stresses. But you are not the sum of your thoughts on those rushing days, the ones where you ate a donut, skipped the gym, yelled at the kids and felt crap at your job. Your higher self is just waiting for you to return and to bring this recall to mind when you’re in the thick of a bad day is a solid supportive feeling that can sometimes disrupt you right out of that mental chaos!
The 'It all starts with love’ factor.
Take it from someone who really struggled with the self-loving gig for a long time, once you nail it, once you forgive – even when you don’t think ‘you deserve it’, it is miraculous how you can achieve stuff, be effective in your relationships, and boundless other facets of your life. It doesn’t mean you can’t take a lesson from the things you’ve don’t that you’re not proud of, or grow as a human, but to forgive first and then apply these great learnings is the smartest, most effective and emotionally intelligent way forward. Not just for you, but for everyone around you😊
The ‘Life is happening now’ factor.
Newsflash: Your. Life. Is. Happening. Now. Right now. Moving in moments. Imagine you’re watching yourself like a character in a movie. What would you tell yourself to do? Likely a lot more than you’re allowing yourself to leap at right now… Go On. Grab it. Grab it all.
The ‘Zero apologies’ factor.
Stop it. Just stop it. Apologising. For what you enjoy. What you want for yourself. What you wear. Look like. Believe in. Love. Stop tripping over to align with others, please people, humble yourself. No. You don’t need to apologise for any of these things and when you realise that your proximity to living a life that has great meaning, purpose, satisfaction and drive…designed just for you…. will rise from the martyrdom… 😉
The ‘Conviction’ factor.
When all of these factors combine, you get a life lived with conviction. You get the tools to bring yourself out of unhelpful moments, thoughts and bad days. They’re still going to happen. They’re meant to. But your ability to lean in, get curious, create distance between mental thoughts and what’s real and evidenced will allow you to actually even begin to appreciate the opportunities that lie in the change, and the ebb and flow of your life’s day to day.
You’re a tiger in the jungle woman. Go Roar.
